
Simplifying Plein Air Painting
Join this year’s Plein Air judge Amanda Lovett to explore simplified techniques to alleviate the overwhelming nature of Plein Air painting. Explore new ideas for capturing your composition, your light envelope and color. Improve your color mixing skills by using a minimum palette by using a minimum palette and develop a better understanding of color harmonies. This Plein Air workshop has quick demonstrations with easy-to- understand techniques, after which, artists will concentrate on their own paintings with plenty of personal instruction. Students should bring materials that they normally use to paint with. Materials include but are not limited to: brushes, easels, canvas, paints, palette knife, palette, turpenoid, and turpenoid container. In addition, students should bring a small sketchbook to work out designs and compositions and a drawing pencil or pen.

About the Instructor
Amanda Lovett

Amanda made the commitment to become a full-time Oil Painter in 2004 after a successful career as a Creative Director. She has studied under some of the country’s top professionals and now teaches workshops at venues across the southeast. Amanda has been accepted into numerous national and regional shows and organizations, as well as earning her Signature Status with Oil Painters of America and being named one of the “11 Artists to Collect Now: The Emerging Plein Air Painters You Need to Know” by Plein Air Magazine. She is currently represented in several art galleries across the country.
