Mixed Media Watercolors
Fall 2025 Artist in Residence Series #1- Micah Goguen
Join artist Micah Goguen for this fresh new approach integrating collage and texture with watercolor. We will be using a series of wildlife images to clip, tear and paint our way through a foundation. We will then learn the secrets of QoR Light Dimensional Ground as an amazing layering process we can then embellish with watercolor using stencils. This is a fun and exciting way to work with these materials and to display without putting them under glass. No previous painting experience is needed! Please bring apron and some paper towels to class and your own collage materials and stencils if you like. All other supplies will be provided. We will be working with QoR watercolors and Ampersand Aquabord as well as GOLDEN Super Matte Medium and QoR Light Dimensional Ground and Watercolor Ground.

About the Instructor
Micah Goguen
Micah Goguen grew up in Central Georgia and obtained his B.A. in Art from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. Micah continued studies in figure drawing and painting at Kennesaw University and lived in the Atlanta area for 7 years producing and showing art at local venues. Residing currently in Macon, Ga., Micah focuses primarily on bringing art to the community and using art as a form of communication for those struggling to under stand and cope with life situations. He is currently obtaining his Masters in Art Therapy.

Goguen produces work while teaching art to both adults and children. He also volunteers time at the local community center and works with adults in alcohol and substance recovery as well as uprooted and traumatized children. Micah’s own artwork conveys his interest in people as he uses oil paints to mostly create expressive portraits. Bold color choices and organic movement signify his style and you can most often expect a large confrontational composition that forces the viewer to take notice and interact. Micah works in a range of media and teaches workshops in Oil and Acrylic Painting, Ceramics, Textiles and Drawing. He is working on several mural projects and also founded a group of artists which hang and display art in privately owned local businesses. The overall vision is to focus and rededicate back to a buy local, shop local mentality that strengthens community through unity and purpose.
