Wood Carving a Comfort Bird with John Thomas and Reid Carney

This workshop will introduce students to wood carving including tool safety, and basic tool usage will be emphasized. Students will learn the safe procedures for carving using a knife, and be introduced to sharpening, stropping, check-cuts, push-cuts, stop-cuts and paring-cuts. Tools will be available to use or bring your favorite knife. In the July workshop, students will work on carving a cardinal. In the August workshop, students will work on carving a walking stick. In the September workshop, students will work on carving a comfort bird. Limited seating, so please sign up early.

For BRMAA members, you are welcome to join The Blue Ridge Wood Carvers regular meetings every Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. here at the Art Center.
