Micah Goguen
About the Artist
Micah Goguen, originally from Central Georgia, holds both a B.A. in Art and Art History and a Master’s in Art Therapy from Georgia College & State University. Now based in Macon, he brings a wealth of experience as an artist, teacher, and art therapist whose work merges vibrant artistic expression with purpose and healing.
Having faced significant challenges, including early vision impairment and living in a gallery’s attic while establishing his art practice, Micah’s perseverance and community-oriented spirit have shaped both his art and his approach to teaching. His journey informs his teaching and outreach, as he leads workshops, retreats, and programs across the Southeast U.S., always emphasizing connection, mindfulness, and creative empowerment .
As a mixed-media portrait artist, Micah works across various materials – oil, acrylic, ceramics, textiles and more – to create layered, organic, and confrontational compositions that invite reflection and human connection. His bold color palettes and emotionally rich subjects are designed to engage and speak directly with the viewer.
Beyond fine art, Micah has a strong community presence: he teaches weekly workshop-style classes, collaborates on mural projects, supports individuals in recovery, aids traumatized children, and fosters art exhibitions in local businesses. Through these efforts, he nurtures a “buy-local, shop-local” ethos that strengthens community ties and empowers participants.
Please join us in welcoming Micah Goguen to Blue Ridge at our opening reception on August 30, from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm. Refreshments will be served, and the evening offers a perfect opportunity to mingle with fellow art lovers and community members in celebration of creativity and connection.
We look forward to seeing you there!
