Wild Impressions: Introduction to Eco Print
Experience the magic of eco-printing in this one-day workshop with instructor Suzanne Connors. During the workshop participants will explore the alchemy that occurs when working with water, plant materials, heat and metal. The instructor will guide students through different techniques that have worked for her during the years. This includes how to arrange leaves for clear impressions and how to create different colors with dye baths. Learning these techniques will allow students to experiment with different protein fibers and to create several samples.
Students are asked to bring a variety of leaves with them, but there will also be a short, guided excursion before class where students will learn to forage. The instructor will discuss with the students important environmental concerns and best safety practices. By the end of this class, students will produce an eco-print on a 14” x 72” scarf.
