“Common Threads – A Textile Arts Exhibition” Opening Reception

The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association invites you to celebrate the opening of Common Threads – A Textile Arts Exhibition on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 PM at The Art Center. This inspiring exhibition showcases the creativity, talent, and artistry of quilt and fiber artists, highlighting the unique designs, techniques, textures, and traditions that make textile art such a dynamic form of creative expression. Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and community as we celebrate the artists whose skill and imagination bring these beautiful works to life.

Fiber art occupies a distinctive place within the contemporary art landscape, transforming thread, cloth, and other tactile materials into works rich with texture, color, movement, and meaning. Rooted in generations of craftsmanship yet continually evolving through experimentation and innovation, fiber arts invite artists to explore the relationship between material, memory, pattern, and place. Through quilting, weaving, stitching, felting, and other techniques, each work becomes an intimate expression of process and perspective—demonstrating how something as familiar as fabric can be reimagined into compelling works of art.
